Why I Started Product Wellbeing
I am on a mission to help 1 million people achieve success and wellbeing. And I’m starting with product managers. I’ve been a product leader for 6 years and I love it. But it wasn’t always easy and I want to help people succeed by learning from my mistakes.
Currently, I lead product for The Muse, a career advice and job marketplace site. So you could say career success is my passion. I believe how you choose to spend your career is your biggest asset for fulfillment and building wealth.
But the career path to being a product manager is often murky and opaque. There’s no degree for product management. And there’s a Catch 22 in product management that you need product management experience to get your first job in product management - like WTF. At least that’s what I experienced.
First it took me 6 months and hundreds of applications to find my first product job. That was stressful, and I learned a ton about how to communicate as a product person and what skills I needed. My first couple product management jobs were with little mentorship so I had to teach myself. Again, challenging, but I learned a ton. And I got a product coach.
Now people come to me for product management coaching and I want to pass on everything I’ve learned without it being stressful for others. I take a holistic approach, including personal wellbeing because I believe your career affects your health and your health affects your career success.
